We often refer to SEPA countries in our articles, so it seems necessary to recall the list of countries that participate in the SEPA system.
SEPA stands for Single Euro Payments Area, and SEPA Money Transfer is an initiative of European Union countries and governments that simplifies bank transfers denominated in EUR.
In 2023, SEPA has 36 Member States: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Republic Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden, the 3 EEA countries Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland , as well as Switzerland and Monaco.
Most SEPA payments are settled the next day and since 2017 banks have implemented Instant SEPA, which allows payments up to EUR 15,000 to be made within 10 seconds.
